A crash course in making it big in London

Date: 18-Aug-06   Chatham House, Cass Business School
Chatham House and Cass Business School from City University are holding their first training programme for senior business leaders moving to London. Participants will get insider information on everything from regulation to business etiquette and learn all the quirks of British business life.

The programme features contributions from historian Dr David Starkey, political scientist Professor Anthony King and Guardian journalist Peter Preston.

The course, which takes place over two days, will act as a one-stop shop for executives new to the UK and especially London. Dr Starkey will provide delegates with a solid and comprehensive grounding in the history of the British State, looking at everything from the country's political and economic history, to its diverse cultural make up. Professor King will unpick the workings of Whitehall while Peter Preston will look into the UK press, explaining its unique status within global media.

Workshops on the second day will focus on working in the City, from the regulatory environment to corporate governance to London's role as leading financial centre.

There will be three sessions of the programme:
2-3 November  2006
8-9 March 2007
25-26 October 2007
