After paying tribute to the three victims of the last five months, Ghosn spoke about the importance of valuing human capital. "Management is a fundamental notion because it touches the first resource of a company: women and men. Without them, the company has no future, nor possible success."

Earlier this week, Ghosn visited the Technocentre in Guyancourt in greater Paris, where the victims used to work, to meet with their colleagues, union representatives, HR directors and health and safety professionals.

Following those meetings, several promises were made, including the freeze of a 'hot-desking' scheme destined to use work space more continuously, stress management training for managers and more emphasis on communication. "We must stop the dehumanisation of work and the loss of communication that our IT world is generating," commented union leader Gérard Blondel.

Ghosn charged two of his senior executives, including the director of the technocentre, with the job of coming up with a plan for how the problem could be addressed, by March 15. Ghosn said the "Contrat Renault 2009", which seeks to bring Renault back to the fore of the automobile industry, would not be affected.
